Christmas in Arlington

I received this by mail today and although I am against war in principle I was very touched to read it especially with Remembrance day getting close now on November eleventh and Chrismas is very soon after. Rest easy, sleep well my brothers. Know the line has held, your job is done. Rest easy, sleep well. Others have taken up where you fell, the line has held. Peace, peace, and farewell... Readers may be interested to know that these wreaths -- some 5,000 -- are donated by the Worcester Wreath Co. of Harrington, Maine. The owner, Merrill Worcester, not only provides the wreaths, but covers the trucking expense as well. He's done this since 1992. A wonderful guy. Also, most years, groups of Maine school kids combine an educational trip to DC with this event to help out. Making this even more remarkable is the fact that Harrington is in one the poorest parts of the state. After all these people put their life on the line for you, some may have been drafted, a lot were volunteers it's a thought to the folk in my country who parade around on days such as Remembrance day also. You are doing a terrific job Merril a terrific job. I for one salute you. A direct quote “We couldn’t do anything in this country if it wasn’t for the people who gave their lives to protect us,” Mr. Worcester said. “It’s a great honor to be able to come here and pay our respects.” I for one totally agree.
